Background of the Study
Technological disruption has reshaped the landscape of corporate banking, driving significant changes in service delivery models. Wema Bank in Lagos has been at the forefront of adopting disruptive technologies, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cloud computing, to transform its corporate banking services. These technological advancements have enabled the bank to streamline processes, enhance customer engagement, and reduce operational costs (Ogunleye, 2023). The rapid pace of technological change forces banks to continuously innovate, ensuring that they remain competitive and meet evolving customer expectations. Disruption in technology not only improves efficiency but also presents opportunities for developing new financial products and services that cater to the dynamic needs of corporate clients (Adenola, 2024). However, technological disruption also brings challenges such as integration issues with legacy systems, cybersecurity risks, and resistance to change among staff (Chukwu, 2025). This study assesses the impact of technological disruption on service delivery at Wema Bank, exploring both the benefits and the obstacles encountered in the digital transformation journey.

Statement of the Problem
Although technological disruption offers significant advantages, Wema Bank faces obstacles in fully capitalizing on these innovations for corporate banking service delivery. A major issue is the difficulty in integrating disruptive technologies with existing legacy systems, leading to operational inefficiencies and data fragmentation (Ogunleye, 2023). Moreover, cybersecurity threats and regulatory challenges further complicate the adoption process. Resistance to change among employees and the high cost of technology investments also pose significant hurdles. These challenges ultimately undermine the bank’s ability to provide seamless, high-quality services to corporate clients, impacting overall competitiveness and profitability (Adenola, 2024). This study aims to explore these issues and recommend strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of technological disruption while maximizing its benefits.
